Italian Brass Week is a festival that aims to create a collective soundtrack that combines history, art, Florentine and distant traditions, involving music lovers, artists and students from all over the world.
Music has always accompanied the feelings of humanity, and genius has always been assisted by feelings and like any artistic expression, it gives us the possibility of individual growth. We all have a soundtrack of our existence.
Leonardo Da Vinci represents the genius, which inspires this twentieth edition of the Festival, the ability of man to go beyond himself, through empathy as the highest expression of nature. The musical notes will surround our days and nights dedicated to the Universe, which has always been a source of inspiration for the artistic world, giving all participants the opportunity to live and get excited, in memory of the great genius Leonardo.

The 20th edition of the “Italian Brass Week” international festival, dedicated to the world of brass, will take place in Florence, Fiesole
and Vinci from 21 to 28 July 2019, and bears the title "The sublime beauty of genius". Dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci, on the 500th anniversary of his death, it revolves around the Genius of Vinci, retracing his musically most fascinating existential stages.
The pillars of the festival will therefore be Beauty, the Sublime and the Genius, which will be joined by Internationality, Talent, Ingenuity and Passion. From the very first days, young talents will be able to show themselves in the international competition “Wings to Talent” because Genius is Talent. The genius, the one sought after and valued in the musical competition of our festival, is, therefore, an innate disposition of the soul that manifests itself in ingenuity. From competitions to the calendar of events, the genius of this new edition of the festival lies in that spark that triggers and unites the creative faculty of the intellect, ingenuity and strong passion.
The festival, organized by the 'Italian Brass Network' musical cultural association, enjoys the partnership of: ANBIMA, Fondazione Scuola di Musica di Fiesole ONLUS, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina, OrchestrAcademy, The Precious Hands ONLUS, Fiat Club 500 Italy, Opera for Santa Maria Novella, Classical Tuscany Orchestra, Buoneria, Villa Vittoria, Società Canottieri of Florence, Cultural Association "I Renaioli", Rangers, Don Carlo Gnocchi ONLUS Foundation, Careggi Hospital of Florence, A.GI.MUS., and the institutional patronage of the Tuscany Region, the Metropolitan City of Florence, the Municipality of Florence, the Municipality of Vinci, and international embassies and consulates representing the artists involved in the event.

Training
as a guarantee of having 27 international artists and teachers from orchestras and universities, it will allow us to have students
from 42 different countries around the world. The Italian Brass Week establishes itself as a reference point for high-level musical education which, in the last 19 years, has trained musicians to date part of the most prestigious orchestras around the

world. The realization of this Festival is to allow all these young talents to be able to live a dream, cultivate it and make it coincide with their own existence.

The Masterclasses and the teachers
and Masterclasses will take place at the Fiesole Music School, institutional partner of the festival.
Our goal is to promote cultural exchange between young Italians and foreigners, and give the new generations the opportunity to be part of a prestigious festival for the world of brass and music. The Italian Brass Week, in fact, for 19 editions, has valued young people through teaching, knowledge and traditions, guiding them in the choices for their musical future; conscious, based choices
on the acquisition of extraordinary musical and personal skills and abilities. The individual lessons are flanked by collective ones, with the formation of a brass ensemble that allows the sharing and exchange of knowledge learned, consolidating and making them their own.
The Italian Brass Week wants to affirm a study model that works in a targeted and optimal manner, guaranteeing young students the best training and transmission of those knowledge that, one day, they will in turn be able to pass on and enhance.

Throughout the week we will have the pleasure of hosting some of the international music houses which will exhibit their instruments from the world of brass.
The exhibitions are open to the public and are located in the "Stipo" inside the Fiesole Music School.
